Visible changes in the Harz Mountains: The Harz Mountains have been enormously affected by the drought and dryness of recent years; the weakened trees were unable to withstand the bark beetles. Huge bare areas are the result. What many people don't know: Today, over 70 % of the Harz National Park belong to the natural dynamic zone. Human intervention only takes place in individual cases and exceptions. The nature development zone is supported by forest development measures. Here, the former spruce forests are underplanted with beech trees. In many areas outside the Harz National Park and these two zones, the reforestation of healthy and resilient mixed forests is also supported by the respective state and municipal forests and their forestry offices.

This is how we at Schierker Feuerstein support the #heiermann4future planting campaign.

In 2023, Schierker Feuerstein joined the first planting campaign of #heiermann4future. #heiermann4future was launched in 2020 by Thomas Rader, restaurateur and Harz enthusiast/investor, with the aim of counteracting climate change and giving something back to nature in the Harz Mountains. Two planting campaigns have already been carried out in 2023 with monetary donations and the support of volunteer planting helpers. The next planting campaign is planned for April 19 and 20, 2024 on the B27 between Elend and Braunlage. We from Schierker Feuerstein want to be there again.

And this is how it works:

Online store: You order from us in the Online store and we will donate one tree seedling per order.
Stammhaus: You buy from us at the Schierker Feuerstein Stammhaus and we will donate a tree seedling for every purchase of €25 or more.

And because we want to get actively involved, we will be on site in person with a Schierker Feuerstein team on April 19, 2024 and, together with many other volunteers, will plant as many seedlings as possible.

Schierker Feuerstein donated to the planting campaign. But not only that, we were there and, like many other volunteers, helped with the planting campaign to ensure that a total of around 6,800 seedlings were planted on Schierker slopes below the Mäuseklippe and above the new toboggan run.
