Willy's pharmacy

a place full of stories.

Schierker Feuerstein is a family business for us. What once started with an experiment of noble herbs and roots from all continents of the world, led us through both good and troublesome times. All this has made us what we are today: A traditional drink of the resin. Already in the 4th generation, Schierker Feuerstein is produced according to the original recipe of our founder Willy Drube with the same great care. Thereby our family business is constantly developing. Make yourself comfortable and learn more about our history.

our family history.

1908
The hour of birth of Schierker Feuerstein
28-year-old pharmacist Willy Drube is granted the concession for the "Apotheke zum Roten Fingerhut" in Schierke. In addition to all kinds of tinctures, he also tinkers with the recipe for a drink that guests in Schierke can enjoy after a good meal. He is tireless until he finally finds the perfect recipe.

Everyone wants the Schierker
Willy Drube takes the next big step: He has the Schierker Feuerstein brand officially protected. At this point, his herbal half-bitter is already known and popular beyond the Harz region. From now on, he can produce and sell ever larger quantities.

Difficult times are coming
The course of history does not stop at the pharmacy "Zum Roten Fingerhut". At this time, the GDR's isolation from West Germany was already becoming increasingly apparent. In wise foresight, Willy Drube's son-in-law Ernst Geyer now founds the company Schierker Feuerstein KG in the West German part of the Harz Mountains. Willy's daughter Margret and her husband have a very special gift from pharmacist Willy Drube in their luggage: the original recipe for Schierker Feuerstein. From now on, there are two Schierker Feuerstein operations, one in the east and one in the west of Germany. In Schierke, production is based on the so-called "wartime recipe", since many herbs and roots could no longer be procured due to the isolation. Since then, our original recipe has been produced in Bad Lauterberg. Willy Drube dies in Schierke in the same year.

Expropriation and Eastern Production
The Wall is up, but even in the GDR, comrades don't want to do without the excellent half-bitter. The drink is so popular that the Schierke plant is expropriated in 1972 and becomes part of the Magdeburg beverage combine as the Volkseigener Betrieb (VEB) Schierker Feuerstein. Is this supposed to be the end of Willy Drube's legacy?

It all comes back together
What belongs together comes together. With the reunification of East and West Germany, a new era also dawns for Schierker Feuerstein. Willy Drube's grandson, Dieter Geyer, has been the head of the company in Bad Lauterberg for many years. It is thanks to his tireless negotiations that the East German operation in Schierke can be privatized again after years of dispute. In 1990, the parent company in Schierke finally officially belongs to the Drube/Geyer family again. Thus, the two Schierke flintstone operations once again grow together into a single unit. Although they are legally independent, they are closely linked economically.

Change into the 4th generation
It stays in the family: Dieter Geyer hands over the management of the company to his daughter Britta and son-in-law Walter Möller. The Schierker Feuerstein company is now managed by the fourth generation of the founding family. The legacy of Willy Drube lives on.

100 years of Schierker Feuerstein
100 years ago, Willy Drube probably would not have dared to dream what great successes his herbal half bitter would experience. For many decades now, Schierker Feuerstein has been known and loved beyond the Harz Mountains. This is thanks to the incomparable recipe and the pioneering spirit of our founder. Thank you Willy!

The Schierker Feuerstein gets a sibling product: Schierkuja. Fruity, glittery and to shake. The fruity, delicious liqueur with gold glitter is a real eye-catcher at parties and events. With its extraordinary taste and a sparkle reminiscent of star shine, it is sure to make a grand entrance.
